lily and alice. (ally?) in the library. thursday night, after dinner. Slouching back down into the chair, the red headed lioness heaved a sigh and dropped her chin into the palm of her hand a little too hard. "Ouch," she muttered, having bitten her tongue, mouth filling with a salty taste. The girls were tucked away at a table near the back, away from the rest of the students milling about among the stacks of books, giggling and whispering much to the displeasure of Madame Pince. Brushing her hair back from her face, Lily loosened the striped tie around her neck and looked up at Alice, green eyes sparkling. "And then, he was so distracted that he slipped right on the ice and landed on his arse," she whispered, finishing the end of her story about Potter she'd put on pause to find a book on the shelves for the Charms essay the girls had been working on. "It was brilliant, Al. You should have been there. Peter tried to help him up and just rolled over, falling on top of him." Lily bit her lip to muffle the giggles as she cracked open the reference book.

"You alright?" Alice asked, looking with concern as her friend bit her tongue. After another scathing glance from Madame Pince, she gave her an apologetic look and lowered her voice. "You alright?" She whispered, before grinning and listening to the rest of the story.
Alice giggled, imagining the two boys slipping and falling in the ice. "Serves him right, I suppose." She said between giggles. "That's what he gets for trying to show off in front of you." She glanced down at her parchment, exhaling. She reached up, tying her hair back with a piece of red ribbon she found in her pocket.

"Course it does," Lily nodded, giggling softly as she looked over at the brunette, who'd busied herself with a bit of ribbon. "He's a bothersome creature if I've ever met one." Lily didn't hate James, hardly. There were often times she found herself laughing uncontrollably at one of his pranks or some smartass comment that came from his lips. What bothered her was the rude remarks towards Severus, though that'd become a secondary reason since last spring, and the need to show off like a bumbling idiot in front of her.
"So how's Frank?" she asked, eyes sparkling with mischief as she glanced back at Alice. Lily quite liked this Gryffindor boy and thought he'd be a perfect match for her best friend. And it would be much more exciting to talk about than the essay at hand.

"Perhaps if you just granted him one date he would leave you alone." Alice mused, letting her hands drop after finishing tying the ribbon. She glanced up at her friend with an amused smirk. "Of course, you might end up going on another date, and then another, until you're married or something. Wouldn't that be hilarious? Mrs. James Potter." Alice said, letting out a laugh. The thought of Lily and James was slightly absurd. James was constantly insulting Severus, and while Alice certainly wasn't Severus' biggest fan, she thought the comments were unneccessary and rude.
Alice's smile softened slightly at the thought of Frank. "He's fine. At least he was last time I talked to him." She had last seen the boy after dinner in the hallway. They had talked briefly before Alice went to meet Lily. The conversation could possibly have contributed to her good mood, as she often was in a good mood after speaking with Frank.

The red head's nose crinkled as those words left Alice's lips. Mrs. James Potter. It was... ridiculous, really. Simply silly. So silly that she found herself giggling moments later, trying to picture that life in her head. She and James playing house, folding laundry, cooking dinner, baby James and Lilys running around... the giggles faded as she continued, thinking about that crooked smile on his lips and the hazel eyes twinkling from under his mop of dark hair... "It's simply revolting Alice," she murmured softly, glancing down at her text book again. "Good. I like Frank. You two..." she trailed off, a small smile on her lips.

Alice watched her friend with a look that was a mix between skeptical and amused. She could practically see what Lily was thinking about, and the soft tone of her voice only confirmed it. Of course, she never would have pointed it out, considering Lily would probably cause a stir and insist that never in a million years would she ever consider even the possibility of marrying James. But Alice wasn't daft, or unobservent. She knew that her friend always had that inkling of a thought in the back of her mind. Alice might have thought it absurd, but it didn't change the fact that it was there. "Revolting. Of course." She replied, a smirk playing at the edges of her lips. Her smirk turned into a smile and she looked down shyly.
"What about us two?" She asked, looking up at her friend through her eyelashes.
