charms classroom seven pm ollie and ger Ollie sighed and set up his music stand, spreading out pages with hand-scribbled notes and uneven ledger lines on them. Sure, there were magical ways of making things even and neat, but he liked that it was messy. It showed his creative process. As he looked at the pages, he noticed Hank's writing, and Sammy's doodles, and a little heart in one corner he knew was drawn by Zak. His stomach clenched. He missed his friends so much, and Zak... he'd broken up with the younger boy when he found out he was leaving. It hurt them both, but it was for the better. Left both of them free to do what they wanted... He blinked back the tears he felt forming behind his eyes. It was hard, being away from everything he knew. Sure he had some friends, a couple in his House and a feisty little redhead named Lily from Gryffindor who coached him through Artihmancy, but he missed the music, the ease of being with the people he'd known for years. He was trying to make the best of it though. Professor Flitwick loved him... hence, why he could use his classroom to practice when it was empty. Ollie sang in choir, of course, but he liked to sing on his own. His music. It let him be free for a little while, lost in his own sound and emotions as opposed to dealing with all the people around him. Clearing his throat, he shuffled the pages one more time before taking a deep breath to center himself before he started singing. "It's late at night, and I can't sleep Missing you just runs too deep, Oh, I can't breathe, thinking of your smile. Every kiss, I can't forget This aching heart ain't broken yet, Oh God, I wish, I could make you see..."He felt freest like this, when he could sing and sing without worrying about impressing anyone. No one was listening... and he was his only audience.

As much as the Marauders could be trouble Ger had to admit that being in the same year and house with them had it's perks. Living in the dorm with them, and being friendly, well it certainly had gained him certain information. Information that he was more than happy to be in possession of. Like the fact that the boys had told him about the entrance to the school kitchens, and the password as well. So he'd gone done to get a little dessert, something to satisfy his sweet tooth. The elves down there were always accommodating and a little politeness towards them and you were practically made into a friend for life. Which meant that now on the way back from the kitchen's he felt fat and absolutely stuffed, seriously, those elves were worse than visiting a friend's house and having a friend's mom tell him that he was too skinny and try to fatten him up.
Needless to say, he wasn't moving all that quickly, taking his sweet time in heading back up to the Gryffindor common room, where a little bit of a homework was calling his name. He stopped suddenly though, hearing some kind of vague echo of noise. He had rather keen hearing, though he wasn't sure if it was just something that happened or something that had to do with his half-breed status. He stopped for a moment and there was the noise, vague, coming from down the hall. Without knowing why...he followed it, letting his curiosity guide him down the hall, the sound becoming something more solid, music, somebodies voice singing. Which only intrigued him further.
He reached the door to the Charms classroom, the noise definitely coming from inside, it didn't feel like anything dangerous, so he had his wand tucked away in his robes. He tried the knob on the door, which made it open just a crack. Good, the door wasn't locked. He felt a little bad as he peeked in, listening to that amazing voice, but he couldn't help it, he just wanted to listen, it had been a long time since he'd had somebody sing live right in front of him. He stayed there quietly as he listened to the song he'd never heard, recognizing the boy singing from his classes, a Hufflepuff he'd seen on friendly terms with Lily in the library but he hadn't met him himself yet.

"'Cause I know this flame isn't dyin' So nothing can stop me from tryin' Baby, you know that Maybe it's time for miracles... 'Cause I ain't givin' up on us. You know that, Maybe it's time for miracles 'Cause I ain't givin' up on us... No I ain't givin' up on us..."
Ollie let the last note shiver away in the still air of the classroom, a faint tinkling sound coming from some charmed object floating around the perimeter of the room. He let out a long breath and slumped a bit as he let the music die away. That song always meant a lot to him. He wrote the lyrics while he and Zak were going through a rough time, and Hank found the melody... it was how he got his boyfriend back, only to break up with him four months later. Zak understood that though, and he agreed, and at least they had parted on good terms. Still, his heart ached when he thought of the boy he left behind, mostly because of how lonely he had been since crossing the pond.
Catching movement at the corner of his eye, he turned around, blue eyes going wide when he noticed a slim blond in the doorway. "Oh!" he breathed, startled to see someone else there. Immediately Ollie felt his cheeks flush red, and he ducked his head, mostly out of embarrassment but also because the boy was... beautiful, pretty in an androgynous sort of way, something that Ollie was definitely into. "Um... I didn't think anyone would be around... since... you know, dinner," he mumbled, shoving his hands into the pockets on his robes.

Ger listened, totally enraptured in the boys voice, crazy to think he'd been in a ton of classes with the American transfer and he had never thought, never guessed the quiet Hufflepuff had been hiding a talent like this. His voice, it was more than just good, it was....amazing. Strong and clear and melodic, definitely the voice of somebody who should preform for a living, magic or not. He jumped slightly, blushing in return at having been caught peeping like some kind of creeper. "Sorry I um.." He flailed his hand a bit. "I was, going to the common room and I heard something and...I just...you have an amazing voice." He finally said with a smile and something like awe in his voice. "Like...I can't even describe it but...it's like, fucking perfection." He said honestly, offering a smile, feeling a little bad because the other boy looks so embarrassed at having been caught, he really shouldn't though, he has nothing to be ashamed of when it comes to singing. "Anyway, I didn't mean to like... interrupt your private jam session or anything." He said, biting lightly at his lower lip as he looked the other boy over, from his shaggy black hair to his big blue eyes and down to his broad shoulders and down further, to his trim waist and long ass legs that Ger was super jealous of, very handsome, overall.

Christ, why was his blush getting worse? Ollie shook his head at himself, wondering when he had turned into such a complete spaz. He had been flirting with other boys since he was fourteen and figured out he was gay. Why was he burning bright red now talking to this beautiful blond lion? It must have been the way he was complimenting his voice. Right. That had to be it. Of course. "Thanks," he said softly, running a hand through his hair, black painted nails scratching a little at the back of his neck. "It's okay, I just didn't think anyone was around. I'm not... God, I used to be so good at singing for people. And this whole talking thing. I'm just not used to existing over here yet," he grumbled, glancing down at his robes before offering the Gryff a sheepish smile. "Sorry. I'm not usually so schizo. I promise," he added with a charming smile.

"I can't imagine why you'd have trouble singing in front of somebody, a voice like that...you shouldn't be ashamed of letting other people hear it." Ger said smiling, nudging the door a little more open with his foot, reaching up and vaguely tugging at his tie, loosening it up a little, leaving it slightly more rumpled. He nodded further, he did remember that the other boy had been a new transfer, which also explained the American accent, which Ger found rather charming, it was something different at least, that and the other boys whole appearance, he reminded Ger of a muggle, but in the best way possible, he looked like muggle rock star, it was a good look for the other boy. "Voice like that is made for albums and sold-out stadium tours with screaming fans." He said warmly, grinning as he let himself enter the room, leaning against the door. "I don't think you're schizo...even if you were, could be like...2 friends for the price of one, as long as your other personality liked me too." He reminded with a little giggle.

He rubbed a hand back through his mussed black hair and grinned back at the blond, who Ollie was finding cuter and cuter the more he slipped into the room. He was exactly Ollie's type, slim and pretty and pierced... and those big brown eyes didn't hurt at all. Okay. Time to control yourself, Adams. He's just a guy. A really adorable guy who liked his voice. Stop thinking about that. "Well, I haven't quite made it there in America yet, unless you count a bunch of really misguided girls back in Salem who started a fan club for me and tried to slip me love potions. They tended to scream a lot when I sang," he said thoughtfully. They were cute though. Just kind of oblivious to the fact that Ollie tended to make out with Zak around every corner. "I think it would. But luckily, I only have one personality. I think. Fairly sure, anyway." Stepping forward, he extended a hand, smiling softly. "I'm Oliver. Ollie though, I like Ollie better."

Ger leaned back against the door which he now had closed behind him and outright laughed at Ollie's talk of a fanclub that had formed in Salem around him, and yeah, he could totally understand the fanclub thing, if the other guy were a rock star and not a student like him he would totally have his poster on his wall and have his album, the whole works. "Did they really?" He asked, giggling. "While I can totally understand the sentiment...the love potion seems like going a little bit too far." He said, sort of hoping for his sake that the other guy was just playing around with him. Ger took a step forward when the boy offered his hand, introducing himself. He put his smaller hand into Ollie's warm larger one and gave it an affectionate squeeze. "Ollie it is then. I'm Gerard." He said making a face. "But it's Ger or Frog...unless you enjoy getting hexed by tiny angry Gryffindors."

He grimaced. "I only wish I was kidding. The didn't understand the whole liking boys thing despite that I made out with my ex like, all the time. I think every single student at that school saw us kissing once... at least once," Ollie murmured with a wicked grin. Yeah, he and Zak hadn't been the most subtle of couples. They were passionate. Nothing wrong with that, right? Their teachers hadn't understood that logic though, which explained the long list of detentions he and Zak had gotten. Smiling, he squeezed the boy's - Ger's - hand gently in return, their palms lingering pressed to the other. "Mmm, not on my to-do list today. Ger or... Frog? Story behind that one?" he asked curiously, always far too wiling t find out where people got nicknames that weren't blatantly obvious.

"Wow, delusional fangirls who didn't understand that you're pretty much...one of the gayest things I've ever seen, no offense intended." He added softly but the idea that girls were so stubborn as to try and spike him with love potion instead of letting him enjoy his boyfriend and calling it a day was pretty amusing. "On the other hand, good for you for making out that much that everybody pretty much caught you at it." He added because fuck, he wished he had gotten that much action while he's been at Hogwarts, it was almost impossible to hook up, there was practically no such thing as privacy and that made shit hard. Ger let his hand squeeze back at Ollie's and linger there, he was in no hurry to pull it away, especially with the way his hand sort of fit there, in the other's boys hand, making it feel even smaller and more delicate than usual. He shrugged at that question. "Not a very interesting story." He claimed softly. "My last name is Ribet, pronounced all french like, spelled like the noise a frog makes."

He let out a hearty laugh at that. "Offended? Honey, I embrace the homo. Why shouldn't I? Everyone knew I was gay before I did, so now I'm just living up to the expectations. Plus... hiding in the closet is just so passe," Ollie said, flapping a hand. "I mean, now Queen's out there, gender bending and everything... it's a Muggle band," he clarified, remembering most wizards didn't have a clue as to what was going on in the Muggle world. "Like I said... I didn't like to hide it." Ollie smirked a little bit, thinking of the more... compromising positions he and Zak had been caught in, but he shook his head a bit and focused on the pretty blond in front of him, eyes straying to his lips for a moment and wondering what it would be like to kiss him. Don't think about it, Ollie. "Ohh gotcha. That's cute though. Is your Patronus a frog?" he asked before he could stop himself. "Sorry, I've been studying the Patronus Charm and I have this theory that it relates more to the personality and future choices than people think, but it requires proof... and now I just sound like a big geek." Ollie flushed light pink, shoving his hands back into his pockets, a bashful smile on his lips.

Ger laughed in a combination of relief and amusement when Ollie said he wasn't offended and that he completely embraced his homo, good for him, more people should just embrace who they were, in Ger's opinion. He tried to own himself too, it was a struggle sometimes, especially when there were always a few Slytherins around to call you a filthy half-breed. "I agree, hiding who you are is definitely passe. More people should be as brave and honest, the world would be a better place." Ger said softly his hand released from Ollie's but he could swear he almost still felt the warmth of his touch, weird. He gave him a look and a laugh. "I know who Queen is. Freddie Mercury is a total beast." He said with a bit of disbelief. "Most wizards are pretty clueless but, I'm not most wizards. Muggles have the better music, hands down." He told Ollie softly, not like it was something secret he was more than honest about his fascination with muggle things and culture, his love of movies and rock music. He frowned in slight confusion when Ollie asked if his patronus was a frog. "Nope, it's not. Oh so...you're doing research huh?" He asked him because well, the topic sounded interesting, as to what your animal spirit said about who you were as a person, an interesting theory. "No no...I mean, maybe a little bit." He said fussing with his long bangs. "But I sort of like you as a big geek. And in case you wanted to know...it's a skunk." He said seriously. "My patronus, that is."

His eyes almost bugged out of his head when Frog admitted he knew who Queen was. "Oh my God, I think I love you," Ollie blurted out, bouncing on his toes. "All of my Housemates looked at me like I was insane when I started talking about Queen, even the Muggle borns like me! The students in Salem were much more involved in Muggle culture so coming here was just a shock and you really like Queen? We're hanging out and having a Freddie love fest sometime soon," he insisted, nodding. His manic rant about the awesomeness that was Frog liking Muggle culture died out after that as he exposed his extreme geekdom when it came to Charms. He wanted to be a Charms Master when he got out of school, well, that and a rock star, but he could totally do both. Ollie smiled, blushing a bit, pleased that Ger didn't mind his nerdiness. "Thanks... and a skunk? That's adorable, by the way. And I think it means people shouldn't try to underestimate you. You might look small and harmless but... you have this weapon people don't know about. No one should try to mess with you," he grinned brightly.
